    Finally found a IIci......still looking

I figured it was down the road :) Take your time, I don't have the RE skills otherwise I'd help.

    Finally found a IIci......still looking

A call for someone to make a IIci reloaded please! I've got a battery bombed board as well, and it's too common of a problem for what are otherwise some of the best, if not the best 030 machines Apple ever made.

G3 in a G4 (Mad Science Project Thread)

I have tried again with a reballed G3, it's on there and looks about perfect. Apparently the last PowerBook G3s use a uninorth chipset, so there might be a way to actually get it running... I'm going all the way and is there a way to patch OF to boot with an unknown CPU? Edit: It does turn on...

    PowerBook G3 VCore Adjustment (?)

I had a CPU sitting here and it was the first thing I saw to glue it on to :P Because I own a Wallstreet already

    PowerBook G3 VCore Adjustment (?)

We figured it out. R49 and R48 are in parallel and then R47 is in series with it. This makes up R2 on the formula for the vCore... vCore = 1.23 * (1 + 10k/R2) These here

    PowerBook G3 VCore Adjustment (?)

I've been in contact with DosDude and Bolle, they helped figure it out, there's a resistor divider, I installed an IBM PPC750S on the card is why, and it wants a much lower vCore than the Motorola XPC750.

    PowerBook G3 VCore Adjustment (?)

Hello! I have my G3 wallstreet and I'm trying to figure out where to adjust the vCore! I heard it might be on the CPU card, I can't find any documentation beyond "I'm adjusting the vCore" on what the hell it actually is and any insight would be welcome.

    Warning about eBay seller's chips

Not wrong, I assumed (shame on me) the balls would be decent, just definitely replace them. They're beyond bad.

    Warning about eBay seller's chips

Removed this chip after 5 flow attempts, temperature increasing from 350 to 425C (Yes I know it's too hot but I wanted to see if the solder would even melt) Whatever this solder is, remove it if you're installing BGA chips from this seller and reapply something good.

    Interesting thought...

    Warning about eBay seller's chips

The seller is fantastic, never had an issue with service or getting the product, HOWEVER their BGA chips are somewhat suspect with the solder balls, they are clean but they appear to be 100Sn, even on leaded packages. When buying a CPU from them, note you may have to reball the chip with a...

    PowerBook 604e "Mainstreet"

That someone will hopefully be me! I also am going to attempt to add cache to the Mainstreet CPU board, interestingly enough there's two unpopulated BGA-119 footprints to the opposite side of the XPC106 PCI/memory controller, which does have an L2 cache controller in it, and I'm going to attempt...

G3 in a G4 (Mad Science Project Thread)

Undone, and ready for a 7410 upgrade. Sad the experiment didn't work, but I'll install a 500MHz 7410 and just use it that way sadly.

Yeah, but that's just a B&W! I wanted an AGP G3 for no good reason.

    PowerBook 604e "Mainstreet"

The 740 and the 750 are different footprints, the 750 has its own cache bus and stuff, the 740 is drop in for 60x is my understanding. 740 is definitely a smaller footprint than 750.

Pinout for 603/604/740 are the same, yes

    PowerBook 604e "Mainstreet"

Well mad science continues... I've ordered a Mainstreet CPU card and plan on making a 604e card because I am insane. There's two BGA memory footprints on the card which I'm assuming hook up to the MPC106EC controller (with an L2 cache controller on it), so I will be trying to upgrade cache on...

G3 in a G4 (Mad Science Project Thread)

It would appear all AGP G4s use MPX (labelled as MaxBus), so the dreams of an AGP G3 are dead. :( Very disappointed. Next up: 604e PowerBook

G3 in a G4 (Mad Science Project Thread)

Well I did a small project here... I started with my G4 DA 466 board with a 7400 on it. I removed the CPU and I cleaned the pads... I got in a PowerPC 750S yesterday night, so I decided to work on getting that installed on the G4 board Everything looks great! I install the board and nothing...
