    I am trying to boot the 8.6 installation CD (WinWorldPC's copy) from my 8.1 installation, but no matter what I press when I start the computer it ejects the disc and then hangs at the gray smiling mac icon.     Ram Charger alternative for 8.6?

    Lowend Mac recommends Ram Charger as a memory manager because it increases your total available ram and prevents memory conflicts, but as I look into the software I discover that it reportedly doesn't work with 8.5+ Does anyone know of another program that can be used for 8.5 and 8.6?

    Thanks for the advice, I'm wondering how the lifespan compares to other media (hard drives, SSDs, CF cards) but I suppose if I keep regular updates and utilize network storage most of the time then it shouldn't be much of a problem
