I'm in the process of upgrading the innards of an early 2008 15" MacBook Pro (4,1). I bought a couple of 2GB sticks from OWC, but have run into trouble with the new RAM. The laptop refuses to boot with both 2GB sticks installed -- the power light comes on, the optical drive revs up, but no...
I recently picked up a Performa 640CD while visiting my sister in Colorado. Pictures showed the Mac side booting fine, and the price was good, and it had the DOS compatible markings on the front!
Was looking for a partner to go with my 6115 with a DOS card, so I picked it up, removed some of...

I am in process of working on a 7 megabyte Macintosh Portable RAM Card. It works in my test Portable, and I've sent one off to be tested in a Backlit portable. For me it has booted System 6.0.8, passed the Snooper RAM test, and plays games like Tetris and Risk with no issues.
Why 7 megabytes...

RAM modules for the PowerBook 500 series are notoriously expensive now, and because the connector no longer exists, new boards cannot be...
Hello :giggle:! A few weeks ago I posted here asking for help with my Mac Plus. I fixed the error by replacing the U3 Optocoupler with a 4N35. Now, everytime I turn it on, my Mac Plus does the chime sound, gives video, and displays the sad face (althought, sometimes displays a few random lines...
SIMMs (single in-line memory modules) were an innovation created in 1982 to allow memory to be installed on a separate circuit board and connected to the main board through a dedicated pin connector. SIMMs (and the related SIPP modules) allowed larger quantities of DRAM to be installed without...
I just installed a 512MB RAM stick from OWC into my clamshell iBook. However, in Apple System Profiler, it's only showing the stick as 64MB (plus the 64MB built-in to the logic board, so 128MB total). I'm running Mac OS 9.2.2.
Normally I'd assume that I got a mislabeled part, but since I assume...
I posted this question on FaceBook (Vintage Apple Macintosh Enthusiasts group) 5 days ago and not a single person replied, so let's see if the amazingly knowledgable folks here at TinkerDifferent can do better!
Do any of you have experience using any of the following Keystron RAM SIMMs in your...
