3.5" Hard Drive 50-pin SCSI Reference Design

Here's the reference PCB and case designs for a 3.5" hard drive that's 50-pin SCSI. This can be used to have the 50-pin and power connectors in the exact same position as a standard 50-pin SCSI hard drive. The case also has the proper mounting holes to mount it in any computer's hard drive bracket. Here's a picture of the small 100mm PCB version of reference design with a Macintosh LC 520 hard drive connector:

Here's a picture of what the edge connector type pcb looks like. Ignore my shitty soldering since I was just testing out my first test pcbs. The pads of the 50 pin connector are slightly off and has since been corrected:

Like all my reference designs the kicad files and 3d models are all there to be modified for whatever particular use you might have.

Personally I wanted to make a 2.5" SCSI hard drive to 3.5" 50-pin SCSI hard drive adapter and possible a 80-pin to 50-pin SCSI adapter as well.

Enjoys.

Very cool. Thank you very much.
It is absolutely useful for me: I'm working on a little project to develop an SCSI cable adapter to be able to connect the Centronics - DB25 cable "directly" to the harddrive. For me the power connector position is not always good, because for example the Miniscribe 8425SA and the Rodime RO652A have on the top of the PCB their power connector.

Something like this does seems like it could be very useful for owners of LC/Perfoma 520/550/575!

I recently ran into this myself in trying to figure out how to connect up a BlueSCSI to my LC575 in place of the internal HD. I have a short 50 pin extension on order but its going to be a pain to get the edge connector with just the extension cable into the slot at the back of the HD bay.

If the PCB just had internal pass through connectors for hooking up a BlueSCSI or SCSI2SD installed inside the case that would be awesome.
