I have been an MLA member since 2001.
Glad to see you here, Brett. You joined the MLA about 4 years before I did. I was an active participant there until I left in July 2021, which was the summer we created TinkerDifferent. I haven’t posted in the public forum over there since my departure.
Even though both forums use XenForo software, TinkerDifferent provides meaningful benefits like Editing your posts for as long as you like, choice of Light or Dark mode, the ability to Like posts with cute little Mac icons (remember when we had similar at the MLA?), and the most important of all… fantastic UPTIME with excellent protection of the content you post here.
TinkerDifferent is able to offer all that because it is community run and led by more than just one person and a server guy. There are no perpetual kings here, which makes us open to change. Board members on TinkerDifferent are elected and serve limited terms. Ears are open to hearing ideas from forum members. And those ears who listen are empowered to act, and they do act to make things better where possible.
I look forward to seeing your posts in our forum. You are very welcome here. Indeed, everyone is welcome. And if you have any ideas to make this form better, we want to hear them via PM or in our Feedback section.
Lastly, our aim has always been to create a friendly forum run incredibly well and open to change. It’s all about the user experience. We want everyone to feel at home here and truly enjoy our vintage computing hobby.
Have fun!
