I wanted to thank both Steve Matarazzo (Mac84) and Sean (Action Retro) for their help in upgrading my G4 mirror door Mac. I was able to add an SSD (I watched Sean's videos and used the adapter he mentioned), and Steve helped me out with some equipment and advice on how to make this upgrade possible. I had 3 old SCSI drives that I wanted to get data off of, but I needed to be running OS9-and I wanted to run OS9 on a second drive. This Mac only came with OSX when I bought it from a Broadway music producer in New York City, way back in 2010.
This Mac will basically be a file server. I may play games once in a while on it too. I don't care how old a machine is-if you can put it to work doing something, I don't see why you shouldn't. Why add to the e-waste problem? I also LOVE that accessing the innards of this machine is so easy and that you can swap parts-unlike newer Macs.
It's fun breathing new life into an old machine.
