Oooo! Wifi for the Mac the old way! It might be useful. 🤩

I think a RGB to HDMI would work to output to an LCD. The power supply should be quite simple though, and I assume something like a //C keyboard could be rigged up using ADB. I can work with you and we can create a 3d printed case too. Maybe even use say a rechargeable battery for power and a power supply to charge it.

Or once Pico can be made to work as a more straightforward and uncomplicated tool than the RGB2HDMI to output video, that would be cheaper.

As for the keyboard, I think not the //c. It should be better to type on, such as the first ADB keyboard for the SE. Custom keys are possible but costly. Make the case wider to fit the keys like on this 60% keyboard, and then add palm rests. That way, more stuff can be put in the case, such as Wifi and other things like video out wiring and adapter to the LCD screen.

It may be possible, but Classic II only has 24 address lines. Then, techknight points out that there is a 32-bit bus, so breaking the 10 MB barrier is possible by "stitching" with a patch to the System via a software approach.

There could be a way to have code in the new ROM that will allow up to 32 MB of RAM using two 16 MB 30-pin SIMMs at 60 ns. 🙈🙉🙊🐵:D

Hi jajan547

RGB2HDMI would work for sure, and that is what I am aiming for.
Only the PiW seems hard to get the hands on… ive ordered one and they aim on delivery in December….

Now I am hoping that the (Picopi under development here)may do a similar job.
As I will be using this internal, a simple shield will do….

As for the keyboard, suggestions welcome!

As for the display, indeed 1024x768 from a 9,7” ipad ( I have here availble from a almost dead ipad)
At Ebay/Ali small driverboards are selling for these.
Have to see whats needed/fits the picopi or RGB to HDMI best.

Thats about 10”👍

WAY BETTER than the bloated Macintosh Portable! 😁
If I might make a suggestion, flip the LCD over so it's a lid that hinges at the back edge. Hartmut never came up with that more ergonomically correct twist for this one that I've seen. ;)

Portable rocks, my concept, decade long project is based on one of frog's designs. The maniac did up in vHack form a year or two back?

Is it a laptop clam-style or a panel-style that can still see when flat like a tablet? 🤔

Another twist, get a touch LCD and convert touch signals to ADB. Boom! It doubles as a tablet! System 7 has an on-screen keyboard, so why need a keyboard, anyway? Make it a tablet. A Mac SE/30 tablet with a Classic II board with FPU, bootable ROM, 32 MB RAM, WiFi, and SD storage with connectors to still be able to connect to external SCSI devices, an ADB keyboard and mouse, serial, and external floppy drive. 😬

The power of the SE/30 is in your hands! 🤯

Yup! 🤪🤩🥳 Imagine the possibilities! We have the technology to make a compact 68k Mac opportune with ideas from Hartmut. I just realized that based on this design model that @-SE40- wants to create, it could also be a tablet. It might not be thin like today's iPads, but it would be something that it never was back then.

Point taken, and crossed my mind.
Its something he did not solve.
I will look into that.

Thanks!

LOL @-SE40-! It's the Apple Standard ADB keyboard. :ROFLMAO:

Apple_Standard_Keyboard.jpg

The point is, either you modify it and put it in there without a keyboard case OR go tablet approach. A custom keyboard can be costly. A touch screen is cheaper and can do a bigger touch screen with an adapter (such as a Pico or ) that will translate touch gestures to the ADB, such as the pointer's movement, scrolling, etc. An INIT and cDEV (Control Panel) may need to be programmed for Systems 6 and 7 unless entirely handled on the hardware side and passing on the correct ADB signals. 😎(y)
