Good project for the holiday weekend. Case replacement and new fan. Will post an update when it's done. Thanks @MacEffects

Very nice! I've got two of these fantastic cases. PCB edges (logic and analog) tend to scuff them. Wrapping the perimeter of the boards with felt tape or similar will prevent this.

Ok, it took a while to get around to it but it's done. Here are all the updates since I got the SE from a friend who was about to chuck it (it was his school computer in the 80's)
  • Replaced logic board for a new one from ebay ($30 shipped and a steal in retrospect). Original DOA board sent half way around the world to be parts'd out for a SE reloaded project
  • Full retrobrite of the original case and keyboard
  • Swapped CRT from a Classic II
  • SCSI2SD installed in the PDS slot opening with a custom 3D printed opaque bracket for easy SD card access (removed second floppy drive and 20mb SCSI HD)
  • RAM update from 1mb to max of 4mb
  • New ultra quiet fan replaced the old noisy one
  • Sand and repaint of original aluminum frame to remove light corrosion, (it really sparkled afterwards)
  • MacEffects Clear case
Can't really think of what else to do with it as I think I've turned every screw on it but thanks to all for the wealth of knowledge and support from the community to get me here. Shoutout to @JDW for some great videos on this and @MacEffects !

That MacEffects case certainly makes a clear difference! :)

Don't chuck your old SE case because it looks to be in good condition from what I see in your photo. (The one SE case I have is beat up pretty bad, and the poor Apple logo on front is scratched up like crazy.)

I will certainly hang on to it, it's in the Mac Effects shipping box. It cleaned up really well (before and after retrobrite pics below) and I may find a way to get it to someone else someday as I'm all about getting the parts where they can go and live a new life.

Loving it, great job! Disco ball and spotlights could be a next step?

Finally found the perfect Christmas ornament string of six 1.5" balls. I love my hazy case, it's just perfect for a rear projection light show. Next for the battery operated internal motor, controller board, led spotlights, etc.

Thanks so much @MacEffects!

Lovely! Next step, water cooling? Just joking. A subtle pulsing blue glow emanating from the vertical plastic ribs would look cool though.
