I’m cleaning a long-sought-after M0116 keyboard to pair with my Macintosh SE. While cleaning, I noticed a small spring loose along the bottom of the keyboard’s case. This seemed important, but I didn’t see an obvious place for it to go. As space bars can be surprisingly exotic, I focused my attention there.

I came up with what might be the right answer, or I’m making something out of nothing. A metal clip with an indentation attaches to the bottom of the keyboard. The end of the spring can fit in this indentation, and then, with much fiddling, the spacebar can be installed with the spring providing a bit of resistance.

I installed the spacebar without the spring, and it felt okay, but it feels better with the spring, so I’m leaving it there.

I’ve not seen anything online, and Apple’s service guide for ADB keyboards does not mention it, so I wonder if I stumbled onto the right solution.
