Hi all!
Recently I received a huge box of Floppy disks. included in the box was a disk labeled "Dave Phillips #1 Christmas Music Atari Mastertracks 6/25/93". It was a Sony Double sided MFD-2DD.
I don't own any Atari STs so I put the disk in one of my Mac's with a Super Drive to at least create a disk image. To my surprise the mac was able to open the disk, and I copied all the files off of it (I didn't know until writing this that Atari used FAT for their file system).
While I was archiving the rest of the disks I found 3 other disks that had files with similar extensions to the first disk. These ones were on 3M disks, and labeled "Crystal MT pro", "PBTMUD V #1" and "PBTM V #2".
All 4 of the disks contained .MTS files. I did a bit of research, and apparently they are used for a midi sequencer called Master Tracks, and Master Tracks Pro. I was able to find a Trial version of the software for windows to attempt to play the music, or to convert it to .mid, but anytime I tried to open the tracks I would get this error "Unable to load score."
My plan now is to either try a Windows VM (Wine might have been messing some stuff up), or figure out Atari ST emulation. I don't know a lot about Atari STs so I've come here to see if you guys might be able to gleam some information out of what I've posted, and maybe answer some of my questions about who Dave Phillips is, or what Crystal MT Pro, or PBTMUD mean.
