I have been having this issue with my BlueSCSI, I have the files named correctly, the only thing i can see is the log files.

I've been trying for what feels like hours and it is killing me. Downloaded the newest version of Disk Jockey, I just can't seem to wrap my head around it.

any advice is appreciated

the Machine is a Macintosh SE/30, i've tried going through the troubleshooting guide. i have five blinks at start up, then i get the floppy disk with the question mark.

i've tried making new images, i've tried changing the names and the SCSI IDs and none of it seems to work. this is 1:1 copy from the original Hard Drive of this SE/30. I made the copy using an external BlueSCSI, and I can boot the copy in Basilisk II

i have to imagine it's working since i am getting status lights and power lights, and whenever i delete the log file, it creates a new one, so i have to imagine that it is in fact seeing the SD card. could it be that there's an issue with my disk images?

How did you create the image of your disk? DiskCopy? That won‘t work..!
diskcopy? is that a program?

no i booted the physical machine into system 7, i had a bunch of blank images that i made in disk jockey loaded onto an external bluescsi. and i dragged and dropped the harddisk from the desktop onto the bluescsi. i assumed it had worked because i could boot the drives in basilisk

One step in the troubleshooting guide is to use a known good image - could you try one of the premade alone to rule out anything with the BlueSCSI? Please stick to following the troubleshooting guide to a T as it really does rule out 99% of issues.

A side note booting in an emulator is not an indication it will work on a real mac - lots of other variables at play in an emulator.

well what are some things that i can do to make this work? it really is just a copy of the original hard disk that i'd like to be bootable.

i have a copy of the old hard drive in a img file, I don't know if what I have is everything.
The name of the original drive was "Boris" it seems like all my system 7 files and programs are all stored in the folder titled boris, there are two desktop files and an empty folder that I don't recognize, but I'm sure they have to do with copying it all over.

When you copy a drive as you did it copies it into a sub folder on the target - the System folder is not at the root and may not be blessed for boot. I'd assume that is your issue. You can pull the system folder to the root and bless it - I usually use System Picker to do this.

ok so i need to pull all the contents out of the folder titled boris, and bring them to the root, should i remove the desktop folder and two desktop files from the root too?

The other contents really dont matter for booting - you can organize the drive how you wish. A blessed system folder should be all you need to test to see if it's the issue.

if from within an emulator you'll have to excuse me, but how do I get the files from my desktop into the emulator? just a drag and drop sort of affair, or is there a process for that?

Either way. Basilisk II has a shared folder functionality, though the image you boot up with has to be 7.5+ I believe. If i was you I would:

Grab a fresh image and validate it boots alone on your machine.

Add System Picker to it and boot with both that image and your original drive image.

Use System Picker to select the System Folder on your cloned image and click reboot.

Then you should be in business.
