Boot LC475 without battery?

Should I be able to boot an LC475 with no CMOS battery installed in the system? I've just acquired one that refuses to start without a battery and do not believe that's the expected behavior. If I'm correct in that assumption, any idea where to start troubleshooting?

(Apologies - I had erroneously posted this in the wrong topic)

The LC475 is one of those models that will not output video without a PRAM battery installed. I believe it is possible to "jump start" one by flicking the power switch on and off and back on again rapidly but I have never tried it.

I suggest getting something like a MacBatt or MeowTOAST to use a CR2032 battery instead of the 1/2AA.

Very interesting! Thanks for the confirmation that it's working correctly. Saved me a lot of grief trying to troubleshoot a problem that isn't one. Now, on to the intermittent sound - but that's for another topic after more investigation on the bench.

All the pizzabox LCs and I think the 6100 can be "jump started" as per above. I found this out back in the 90's when one of the LC IIs in our grade 7 classroom "died". Someone was just randomly trying stuff on it and jump started it and the damn thing booted right up.
