Made it most of the way but now I’m stuck and wary of damaging anything, particularly the orange ribbon around the battery contacts.

Yeah it definitely is. I’ll bet it’s an early revision as it came from a grayscale 540 which was only sold up to October 1994. I’m cracking the second one open now. Going quicker this time since I know how now, and I’m taping it as a tutorial of sorts. This one’s leaked more but it should be able to be saved.

Well that was quick. Ripped the membrane slightly near the bottom left but not all the way so it *should* be fine. Both should be recoverable but I’ll start by just rebuilding one hopefully later this month.
