So, I backed up my old SCSI drives onto an internal SSD. My G4 is dual boot. However, as you see in this photo, one of the things I backed up from my old SCSI drives was System 7.5.3.

Could my G4 MDD boot into it?

No way.

Mac OS 9.2.2 and Mac OS X 10.2 are the earliest supported operating systems.

Most Power Mac G3 desktop systems can’t boot earlier than 8.0 or 8.1. The earliest G4 models could do 8.5.1 or 8.6.

Make a disk image of the hard drive and you can access and maybe boot from it in a Mac emulator, InfiniteMac.org may be the easiest.

Easiest way to check is to hold Option while booting. It'll find any supported System folders and give you the option to startup from them.
