I posted this on 68kmla a few months back, but I've finally got around to revising the model and open sourcing it. I just wanted to share for anyone that this might be useful for. Tinkerdifferent seems to be a little more active for compact mac conversation.

I couldn't find what I wanted in a back panel for my Color Classic Mystic, so I made a new model. The model I made for my specific Color Classic is probably not going to be useful for most people, because I modified my FlippyFloppy slightly, so that I could plug in my FloppyEMU using a rewired DB19 cable from an Apple Disk Drive, BUT I did open source it, and I made some revisions to the model that might be more helpful.

I've open sourced the models at https://github.com/mcbeav/model-color.classic.mystic.lc575.back.panel and I plan on making a couple more revisions and uploading them over the next week or so.

The repository contains models that can be printed as a single piece, or in different layers and is then pieced together. I printed mine in different layers to preserve the details of the icons.

The first image is the back panel for my color classic mystic with all of my modifications (There are alternative models further down the post)

  • SD card slot for use with internal BlueSCI (required SD extension)
  • FlippyFloppy support was added
    • I wired a janky custom PCB so I could use a DB19 cable to plug in the FloppyEMU
    • A spot for the FlippyFloppy switch was added
  • There is a small hole to adjust a spicy o' clock, which also required a custom mount for the spicy o' clock
  • The PDS port was sized to fit an Apple IIe card specifically
  • The PCI expansion port was designed to fit an Apple Ethernet card

I printed this in 4 different pieces to preserve the details of the icons, and then I fit everything together and plastic welded it together. I printed the bottom layer with a 0.2mm nozzle for the detail, and the remaining pieces using a 0.4mm nozzle.

The first revision I made to the model was changing the FlippyFloppy port back to support the standard IDC20 cable that ships with the FlippyFloppy.

I used another model as a reference guide for this revision and I was not able to test fit anything, so you'll likely want to double check and make sure the measurements will work for you.

This model has all the same modifications as the original, but supports a FlippyFloppy & the hole for the Spicy O Clock was removed.

The second revision has more of a standard style expansion port arrangement. It still has FlippyFloppy support & and SD card slot, but the expansion ports have been changed and it includes covers for the expansion ports if you don't populate them.

The last revision for now removes all the customizations and is just a stock back panel.

Every model is available as a single piece, or can be printed in layers for better details.

I plan on making a few more revisions, but everything is open source so you can modify to fit your needs.

Also, big thanks to @JDW and @KayKoba for all the help and inspiration with my personal Color Classic Mystic project.

EDIT: Added some more photos for clarity

Do you have the details of the custom mount for the SD card extension, what SD card extension you used, etc.

Also, the mount for the spicy o'clock. I have one that I haven't managed to install yet. Maybe this will be my motivation.

Love the way you sliced it to allow for printing without supports!

I used this SD card extension specifically, but it is a bit long, and probably does not need to be that long.

You remove the plastic housing on the extension, and the back panel has a mount on the back where you slide the extension into. It fits really snug, so you just have to be careful not to damage anything, but it's not very difficult. I updated the original post and added some more photos, so you can see what it looks like.

@Mk.558 I updated the original post with some more photos

Oh my! The holy grail of Mystic BACK PANELS! Wow.

To help spread the word, I added a pinned comment under my FlippyFloppy video that links to this thread. I also added a link in the REFERENCE section of my LC575 Back Panel Conversion video too.

I really love you have so much usefulness in that back panel AND you were able to get those great icons to print too! 👍
Thanks, I appreciate it! I just wanted to share the work in case anyone else finds it helpful for their own project. I open sourced everything, so now there are back panel models that can be easily modified to suit whatever you need, and I made a bunch of revisions for people that aren't comfortable with modelling can hopefully find something useful. At the very least, it should be a good starting point.
