Color Classic: Running without a floppy drive

In the process of setting up a floppy-less CC, I ran into a

"Disk initialization failed because the disk is locked!"

dialog at startup, which was raised in an endless loop:

I got around it by adding a 4.7K Ohm resistor between the +5V and RD pins on the floppy connector.

I'll change it to something more permanent, but the CC boots normally now.

Yep, I have run into that one. Why it was designed like this, I can't honestly imagine.
