You know, I really am happy that the codebase is being kept alive. I purchased the (2008?) App Store release, which I’m pretty sure is either 32bit only or Intel-only, so this would be a nice follow-on to that color experience.

Having said that, I think the real genius of Dark Castle was the 1-bit artwork. The color versions never quite did it for me.

I feel the same way about the MacVenture series (Deja Vu, Shadowgate, Uninvited). It’s so fascinating to me that 1) there were console ports at all, 2) that some people‘s only experience of these games was in low-resolution color.

I owned an IBM PC with CGA, but am glad I never lived to see this:
