As an early Christmas present for my Windows-using friends, Disk Jockey, the disk image creator for your retro stuff, now runs on Windows!

You can now create disk images of (almost) any size to be used in Mac emulators and magical devices like PiSCSI and BlueSCSI.

It's a complete rewrite of the original application in C# and .NET 5 (which will need to be installed on your PC but odds are that it's already there).

It runs on Windows 7, 8, 10 and 11 and supports x64, x86 and arm64.

It's free, but I never say no to a cup of coffee.

Grab it here: https://diskjockey.onegeekarmy.eu!

Ooooh, nicely done! Would it be possible to do the same with Disk-o-Matic, perhaps using some of the source code from HFS Explorer?

I'll see how much adoption I get from the Windows contingent before I start porting more features (so far so good) but that's definitely something I'm thinking about, indeed.

I wonder: which feature do you think should ported to Windows first: Disk-O-Matic or the partitioner that lets you create multiple partitions on the same image?

As for HFSExplorer, as tempting as it is sometimes, the whole DJ endeavor is very much a personal exploration of how classic Mac OS works, and I quite enjoy reimplementing things on my own (best way to learn AFAIK). So, if Disk-O-Matic gets rolled out for Windows, it'll be homemade, warts and all :)

I'd say windows users have options already for viewing and extracting HFS volumes - HFSExplorer & Ciderpress - but adding the multiple partitions would be nice.

1.1 Update

By popular demand, DJ for Windows now allows the creation of disk images up to 256 GB in size. To enable this, turn on "R.O.N. mode" in the settings window.

Do keep in mind that old computers often do not play nice with ridiculously large hard drives so make sure you know what you're doing. There be dragons!

1.5 Update

You can now partition your device images for BlueSCSI and PiSCSI and create HFS and ProDOS volumes!

And also inject existing volume images as new partitions, or install a bootable System 6.0.8 or 7.1 partition.

I made a video explaining the partitioner for the Mac version a few weeks ago. All this can now be done with the Windows version as well:
