Do 3.5" drives benefit from recaping?

Hi folks.

I got my old Classic and a newly aquired Classic II up for restauration.

✔ Both motherboards are working fine after recaping
✔ One analog board is working after recaping (the other one needs more work)
✔ Internal blue scsi on both
✔ succesfully printed (after almost giving up twice) the eject gear for the floppy drives

I was very happy about the drives finally ejecting, after cleaning, lubing and swapping the desintegrated eject gears.

Nevertheless, I can't get them to read floppies!

I cleaned the head more than once and nothing.

The last step, that comes to my mind, would be recaping them…

Is it worth the trouble? Read/write errors may be caused by failing eletrolytic caps??

Thank you for any advice!

did you follow the zero track alignment document and that fixed the issue ?

I have a few floppy drives that were made worse after i tried servicing them. Perhaps i just need to align the zero track.....
