Was recapping the analog board on a new Plus that I got and I wanted to add the diode to have the scsi port power my blueSCSI.
I didn’t have a diode on hand and didn’t want to put in a single-diode order from like digikey because shipping would eat me alive. So i started thinking where might have a diode for cheap…

I was at the dollar store and saw the car USB charger. I wondered if there might be a diode in there. I looked up a youtube video where someone took one apart and said there was a shottkey diode in there. I figured usb is 5v and car’s run 12V so there was a decent chance the diode would work - and that the shottkey aspect wouldn’t cause me too much trouble as it related to switching speeds and reduced breakdown voltages. ..

so i took a $1(.25) bet and boom there it was- diode part number 1N5819 !! 40V diode sure ought to do it!!

the lead was a little on the short side based on how they used it in the USB charger but no problem
