Is there a pinout handy for the connector on the DOS Compatibility card found in the 6100 and other models?

I found a post about it on 68kmla via google, but their site is down. From the google result it looks like there was a spreadsheet with the pinout somewhere.

Is it necessary to connect to the 6100's video if I just want to use the DOS card with a second monitor?

No. The manual says just leave it disconnected.

Does anyone here have tips about how to best construct a y-cable?

I'm thinking of buying a premade HD26 cable and then splitting that off to the other DB15 cables, but not sure if I should splice in premade DB15 cables or just split off the HD26 to DB15 solder cup connectors but not have as much shielding. What do you all think?

A few inches without shielding won't be a problem.

I'm splicing together three molded cables because it's more rugged and reliable than solder cups.

I did get a picture on the DOS card's VGA output but I noticed the Mac's display doesn't shut off, it just dims a bit. When switching back to the Mac, it returns to full brightness.

The RGB lines are shared between the card and the 6100, but the sync lines are separate. Do these play some role in fully shutting down the 6100's video output when connected to the DOS card?

I'm probably not going to bother with the video input end of the cable since 4-way VGA switches are $12 on Amazon.

This is what I ended up doing:

I used lots of of heat shrink tubing to take up tension and strain.

The three wires off to the right are the display sense wires, under a single piece of tubing, in case I need to access them later. So far it's working fine with all three unconnected.

If I did this again:
  • I would get an unshielded cable for the joystick. This one was clearly designed for video and is a lot thicker than it needs to be.
  • I would leave the MIDI-related pins on the joystick connector open.
