MMX CPUs require split voltage supply. They just won't work in a standard Socket 5 motherboard hence why Pentium Overdrive MMX CPUs exist (they have the proper VRM are part of the chip).

But this Socket 7, and the manual doesn't anything extra, it's written simply
P133
P166 MXX
P200 MMX

I didn't see any other reservations about it.

I came across a great topics (1, 2) here about the expansion card for Q950.
After ordering on January 12, I received it yesterday and it is already installed and working today. :)
Due to the fact that the boards are very small, the minimum order is 5 pieces.

Now DOS card on Q950 looks much better.

Thank you @alxlab for sharing your project. :)

I have a few Pentium MMX chips kicking around, if I ever get my hands on a Quadra 950, I'd like to try this as well!
Honestly not sure what I'd even use it for, but it would be a cool thing to have.

Replaced the processor with a Reply DOS on Mac (PDS) card, which is installed in Quadra 950.
I was hoping that Intel's heating would be not much less than Cyrix's, but... This Intel is also hot as an iron, apparently I will have to put a small cooler to reduce the heating.
I took the idea here. This video also contains the results of benchmarks.

The Overdrive chips have an onboard regulator to step down the 5V supplied by the socket to 3.3V for the DX4 CPU. It isn't the most efficient solution.

@NJRoadfan, Yes, you're right, there's a built-in voltage regulator here, so magic smoke didn't come out.
I know that it is possible to install more efficient processors, such as Cyrix i586, but this will require an adapter.
I haven't seen such adapters on the local ads site, so I decided on this option. Maybe in the future I will conduct tests with an adapter and i586.
Maybe we can install some more processors, but I don't know about it.
