After replacing a torn video ribbon cable, the eMate itself still failed to power on. I found the fuse at F1 was open. Patching it (temporarily) with a 0 Ohm resistor got it to power up without issue. Perhaps someone tried to insert a power adapter with the wrong polarity at some point.
From the marking it seems like it's a 5A 72V fuse which seems high but idk. Is there any other value a '50' might mean on a SMD fuse like this?
Thanks to @Androda for selling recreations of that ribbon cable. It saved the day!
