Thinking in terms of TAM/Gazelle and 6360/6400/Alchemy machines. We've got more FW equipped cards working in the problematic TAM of late, so wondering if 100bT or Gigabit external NIC might be an interesting tinkertoy for the boffin crowd?

Apple has their IP over Firewire protocol support but I don't remember if classic MacOS supported it. If it does then it's kinda already done, you just have to tether to a newer Mac.

Interesting, too bad you need a host as your NIC though.

But thinking along the lines of something that could have been available in the day here. If the CSII riser and NIC are eliminated, their cubic then becomes available for a custom PCI twin slot riser. TEMPOtrio is now working on Gazelle, so it or a USB/FW Card can be mounted in the top slot of of that custom riser. That makes room for a nice VidCard in the standard position.

In such a config, put TAM on a KVM switch. Then its limited 3400 screen would become a secondary display on one's main workstation. External USB1 NIC support would be fine in such case, but wishing for faster External NIC along with the ATA133 speed bump on the trio.
