Hello everyone having seen the site where @-SE40- got inspiration for his mini I saw a flower power SE and so I got to thinking. I want to create the same thing and being that I am a horrendous artist I thought that having a custom vinyl wrap made would work. I eventually found this company and they say .Jpegs like the supplied image below provide poor quality prints and that they should be converted. So my question is does anybody have any better images preferably vector and also what would everyone think of me doing this? I am asking before I go through with it.

Hey Jajan 547,
My guess that this idea originates from the Imac

A stickerwrap would be the comfortabele way. Works well on cars, do not know how the vinyl copes with sharp edges of the classic case.
The other form is dipping, but leaves limited control over the result. It gives a nicer result though. (If done right)

A nicer and more unique way would be to find a good airbrush artist and make/ let lasercut the needed sjablones or templates.
This way it will look as a complete 3D artwork. Using high quality paint and clearcoat will make it last.

(To your question, having illustrator, or any other vector program its not that hard to recreate those flowers. If you wish to make a complete stickerset you actually need to layout all sides of the mac. That may take some more time.)

looking forward to your creation.

Do not wonder, as it takes time, it can become costly quickly.

Maybe there is an Art-educational institute in your location? Or a amateur art group….
Ask around there for someone (good at Airbrush) who is in need for a project.
This way they have a life client, and can cover the materials & effort..

Good news, my friend works in a pretty nice auto body repair shop and they have a guy there who does amazing air brush work. I asked what he’d charge and he said he’d do it for $250 So I’m gonna pull the trigger on it. I do have to wait as he’s backed up but I’m super excited.

That souds like the right guy!

Provide him with as many pictures as possible,
and the right colors….

Exiting times!
He said it’s a piece of cake so we shall see, any ideas on the following? Should we paint over the silkscreen (keep in mind this is an SE not SE/30) Or somehow save it? Also I’m dead set on keeping the serial number and rear decal intact or is it something I shouldn’t necessarily care about? I just want to make this neat but also keep its history and originality somewhat alive.

You may have to do a new silkscreen for the front "Macintosh SE" name tag. The Apple logo can easily pop out, set aside, and then put back on. For the back, simply mask with the painter's taping.

Just make a sharp picture, measure the position, and with of the SE logo.

Then create a good vector trace, so it can be cut into a vinyl sticker. Then mask the original, or let the airbrush artist recreate the logo‘s by airbrush into a matching color.

if stickers on the back ar not damaged, best mask them.
Later it may look like factory made.

Also have the keyboard frame and mouse brushes similar styled!

Nice! …..I actually would want one …🍀

Oh, forgot to mention….if you happen to have an old ABS apple lid or something with the original surface,…. Give that to the artist also. He can then check how his paint behaves on the plastic itself.
