G4 Mirror Door Update-Added SSD, Unable To Install OS9 On SSD

Hey folks!

Okay, I cleaned the inside of the G4 a bit, put new thermal paste on the processor and added the SSD, partitioning it.. I found that in order to try and install OS9 on the SSD, the original OSX HD had to be in there as well. Downloaded the OS9 drivers from this link:

I ran into similar issues this morning, trying to boot os9 off a cloned SSD from Sawtooth into a QuickSilver. For some reason it would not boot os9. I pulled out an original 9.2.2 boot cd and started the QS up, and it only sees the IDE drives, not the drives on the SATA adapater. I am guessing it has to do with the sata/iDE adapter. I can boot os10.4.11 just fine off SSD/IDE adapter, just not os9.

I have encountered problems with SATA<->IDE bridges many times, so I almost refused to use them.
I used to have a working bridge, but when using it, the speed of the disk subsystem was terribly slow. I just threw it away.
There are also sometimes problems due to "confusion" with Master/Slave/Cable Select. Not all bridges have Cable Select support.

The bridge I'm using here was recommended by Sean (Action Retro) in one of his videos. However...I don't know if anyone has tried using it in this fashion before, using two separate boot devices-a mechanical HD (the original drive that came with this G4, that has OSX) and the SSD that I would like to install OS9 on and boot up from as an option.

I use this image on my PowerMac: MDD, QS, G3 B&W, G3 Minitiwer and it works great.
Before I figured out Sil3112, I used a SATA<->IDE bridge, and it worked great if the bridge didn't have any problems. But I had others: I got it from Aliexpress.

I just looked carefully at the screenshot and understood what your problem was: you did not install OS9, but just copied the contents of the disk.
MacOS9Lives.iso is the boot image that is used to install OS9.

OS9 is actually in the MacOS9Lives.img file. This image needs to be expanded to a section and then it will work.
If you only need Classic and you do not want OS9 on a separate partition, you can download and install the package that was bundled with the 10.4 distribution.

I use this IDE to SATA converter on my G4 Sawtooth with an SSD and it boots 8.6, 9.2.2, and OS X without fuss
