Hello all,

I have a pmg5 quad, with a x1950 xt flashed for ppc
IMG_20211204_174734.jpg

I bought this card specifically for linux, so i didnt have to use neavoue drivers or whatever, but i have not been able to get it to display out...and honestly i think it genrrally crashes any install on any linux distro i used, including arch and gentoo.

Do i need to unflash it to boot into linux?

Did i actually mess up the flash and need to redo?

works perfectly fine under mac os 10.5 and 10.6

The Mac ROM for the X1950 XT is a bit weird, it doesn't have some stuff that linux wants. The Quadro FX 4500 is a good option too but under linux it will struggle due to lack of proprietary drivers. Usually if you are just running linux or are dual booting with Mac OS X the best option is to get something like a Radeon HD 6670 and put that in one of the other slots. That will work under linux perfectly, no flashing needed. But to access the open firmware stuff and get a bootscreen, you need the FX 4500 or the X1950 XT.
