Hi,
Saw this place mentioned on the Action Retro YouTube channel, had a look, thought it seemed pretty cool and my kind of people, so here I am.
I grew up in the 80's in my parents 8 bit micro store, and have been around this stuff all my life, I still own an unhealthy amount of 8 and 16 bit stuff, really, last count, I have about 30 mega drives (genesis), just as many Mastersystems and a pile of NES/SNES all sitting between Amiga's and Commodore 64's
I tinker with stuff all the time, although these days its mostly online stuff, currently working on a hacker news clone in rust, I have it running on a 128mb 1 vCPU 1GB Disk VPS at TierHive (I own TierHive, no link, not astroturfing its just what I do) but I am trying ot make the ram footprint as low as possible, includiing the stripped back Apine Linux Kernel it runs at 21mb Ram and only has 6 lines of js, which is 6 lines to many... but what are you gonna doeh, no one wants a page refresh on an upvote
the shoddy demo version is running on backtogeek dot com if anyone wants to have a look.
Next tinker project is making a cloud-compatible FreeDos image so I can start offering 8mb VM's, and next hardware project is a more DIY MD/Genesis to HDMI conversion because no one really wants to pay more for the conversion kit than the MD/Genesis itself!
I am considering setting up some local retro meetups/events that dont take themselves too seriously locally, any other northern UK people here?
Anyway, that's me,
Cheers!
Ant.
