And I wonder if there is a 64-pin SIMM adapter for the TL 866 II?

I'd imagine it's possible. Talk to the guy who makes the ROM-inator he built such a contraption on the first revision.

I get the firmware message too.. hasn't slowed me down yet.

I've bought my adapters from Amazon.. you can get whole kits, or just individually - which is what I've done as-needed.

If you try minipro from the CLI do you get any more details? Can you do a pin test on the ROM you have? eg

You can update the firmware with the `-F` flag. Download the firmware from the manufacturer's site. Extract it and use -F with the update.bat file from the extracted firmware.

SO I can't get that to work but I did see progress it read my chip and put it in a .txt (weird) but it freezes when/after programming or reading.

What's the exact message you get? The firmware update function spews a bunch of helpful messages if it fails at any point..

Yeah, but you need to be in the same directory as the firmware file, or give minipro the full path to where it is.

That error you're getting simply means minipro can't find the file in the current directory.. I get the same thing if I move to another directory..

If you right-click the folder containing the updateII.dat file and select "Services/New Terminal at folder" it should drop you right where you need to be. Then the update command should work just fine.

The "minipro-master" folder can be in several places on the volume—one in System, one in Users, and another in the application package. So, you need to be in the correct location.

One trick is to search for that file in the folder that you want to open the terminal in that directory folder.

It's not part of minipro. It's part of the Window's application installer package. If you have the Windows app you should be able to find it in the same directory.

Or search for file "updateII.dat" then right-click that to open the enclosing folder. Go up one level. Then right-click that containing folder to open in the terminal.
