Been lurking and thought I'd finally say hi. So far I've seen quite a few familiar faces. Some of you may remember me from 68kMLA. My name's David, I live in Sydney, Australia, I'm 40, and I'm into retro tech, cars and aircraft. I took a bit of a hiatus from vintage computing for a while first because I bought my first project car (of a few now, lol) and then because of burnout from my IT career which finally came to an end in 2021 and maybe a tad bit of depression. With my dissatisfaction of the way the industry is going I started to hate tech, and as such this year I decided its time to get back into the vintage machines. Was going to join GlobalTalk last year though life ended up getting in the way. Been slowly firing everything back up, no exploded PRAM batteries thankfully though I have come across some bad RAM, bad PSUs and bad HDDs in my collection that all worked last time they were used years ago. Unfortunately a bit like cars, old computers don't like to just sit around not being used. I'm into Macs and x86 PCs. Started with the Mac in 1993, after being forced onto an LC II by my grade 3 teacher in 1993, a few months after which we got an LC III at home (which I still have, and had signed by Woz in 2016), then was introduced to the PC in 1996. Have had many machines over the years, both x86 and Mac, all my modern machines are PCs, might get a new Mac sometime in the future though when I have the funds, provided Apple doesn't iOSify the Mac too much more than they already have.

Fun facts:

1. After I left IT I started a career in Broadcast, specifically television master control which I love. Been at the same place for nearly 4 years now, next year I will have been there for longer than I have anywhere else
2. I have a weak eye, have had it since birth. I basically use my left eye for everything, and my right eye is basically like an extended peripheral vision.
3. To go with my weak eye, I lost most of my hearing a few years ago. They tried to fix it with some major reconstructive surgery, but there was only so much they could do. I'm just about deaf in my left ear and have about 50% hearing in my right ear. It SUCKS. 0/10 do not recommend. Would give 0 stars if I could.
4. I'm partially ambidextrous. Comes in handy at times.
