Mac user via work since mid 90s - Powerbooks back then - still have a damaged one somewhere - maybe.
Then a 5 year gap as Windows user at work, till I bought for my own use -a new iMac G5 ALS that I'm typing this on. Been in the Apple world ever since - usual iPods, Macbooks and a single Mac Pro - thats still in a box waiting to be reinstated too.
iMac's not been in constant use for last 20 years - mix of frustration at the performance, loan to a relative and the dreaded caps issue - mainly PSU but I suspect the logic board could be out of spec.
I replaced the PSU caps with a kit from Jim Warholic & it lasted a couple of months before it failed again. Long gap before I came across the ATX PSU workaround - used a 500W successfully on and off for quite a few years. Long gap and back to it again this year after a recent move. Found I could only run on low CPU performance or it'd power off randomly & with no warning. Cheap 750W ATX PSU arrived and its been stable for a few days - fingers crossed
Oh and a new 12v to 24v dc booster on the way - attempt to give the screen some added brightness back - lets see...
