I've used this microscope a few times now and found it annoying that the surface plate wasn't large enough to hold even a compact Mac logic board. So I took a few measurements and made a slip-on surface plate out of foam core and stick-on cork board from the dollar store. After making that and trying to replace the video chips on my SE/30, I realized the microscope only extended out around 3 inches from the edge of the board. I could never focus in on anything in the center of the board, only the edges. So I made an arm extension out of a 7"x2"x.5" piece of poplar.
Now I can focus in on the center of a larger board like the IIci or the II. I can focus in 7.5" from the edge.
