Hey folks,

An old buddy reformatted his 2017 iMac-it's now running Ventura. A couple of years ago, I bought a clamshell iBook off of eBay and it came LOADED with games. They are currently sitting on my G4 MDD which is dual boot-OS9 & OSX. They play very well on OS9.

I want to send these games his way, but I need to install an emulator on his iMac that will allow me to run these classic games on Ventura. Any advice on what I could use? I guess everything will need to be installed via thumb drive.

Thanks!

OpenEmu is great for consoles and arcade roms, but not specifically OS9. I have always liked SheepShaver, although sometimes getting the settings correct is a bit tricky.

Visit emaculation.net forums. They have threads discussing different emulators.
For Mac OS 9, there are these:
- qemu
- SheepShaver - there's a version with 3D acceleration I haven't tried yet - a version that works with Mac OS 9.1 and later is being developed.
- DingusPPC - we have a discord
- MAME
- Granny Smith https://pappadf.github.io/gs-pages/latest/ works in a web browser but Mac OS 9 isn't a verified guest yet?
https://infinitemac.org uses some of the above emulators in a web browser but a local version of the emulator might have more performance.

Mac OS 8.6 might perform better in some of these emulators.
