I am in process of working on a 7 megabyte Macintosh Portable RAM Card. It works in my test Portable, and I've sent one off to be tested in a Backlit portable. For me it has booted System 6.0.8, passed the Snooper RAM test, and plays games like Tetris and Risk with no issues.
Why 7 megabytes and not 8, you ask? The price. An 8 megabyte card would cost a lot more, due to the dramatically higher cost of the RAM chipset involved. Only the non-backlit Portable can use the extra megabyte to begin with, and 8 megabytes total is hard enough to use on a Portable.
This poll is to register your interest in buying one of these 7 megabyte cards, with price estimated in the $55 to $65 range (plus shipping).
