Kensington Turbo Mouse ADB Trackball

Took apart my recently acquired Turbo Mouse 4.0, there is two screws hidden under the label on the bottom, but that’s not all: there is what looks like two patches of a soft material attached to the underside of the label, I guess to clean the rollers:

They have completely broken down with age, as to be expected. What can I use to replace them? It has to be some sort of brush, or dry sponge, but very soft as to not slow down the rollers.

While I was there I lubricated the rollers: they're so much quieter now!

First time I used, and even saw in person one of these big trackballs, I was surprised that the ball isn’t captive, it just sit there!

Some low/medium-density foam should do the trick. You need something mildly abrasive to help clean them but not scratch/gouge/wear out the rollers.

When you have it open there’s a small screw underneath the little roller:

This little roller is just held by friction, you can remove it by sliding a little flat screwdriver under it. Careful not to send the roller flying across the room (ask me how I know!)
