(Kodak) Diconix 150 Portable Printer Paper Sensor

I just discovered this little nugget in my garage and thought it'd be fun to get it working. However, it won't do anything if it doesn't detect paper.

I think I'll solder a jumper across the switch, but could that cause other problems? Are you familiar with the workings of this thing? Documentation online is sparse.
