I don’t see how this is constitutional or enforceable really. It’s definitely sad that we have states puting AV in place now and unsettling that we have bipartisan representatives who think this path is constitutional and good Federal policy for the country.

The real tinfoil hat says this is an engineered failure point to usher in digital ID. I mean they already convinced all of us to buy WiFi ring surveillance cameras & internet connectivity with our own money so big brother can spy on us for free.

At least with that there was the illusion of privacy … kinda.

it's a relief to me that infighting in congress has replaced doing the legislative work we're supposedly paying them to do.

IOW, never gonna happen and will be tied up in the courts before implementation for freakin' YEARS!
Thank Finagle, god of the offworlder asteroid colonies. ;)

The day Linux becomes illegal will probably be the day I give up on computers altogether.

Except for my ancient playthings, of course. Unless someone tries passing a law banning them, they are completely immune to all this nonsense.

That said, since the PDA is sort of a Progressive Democrat project, that video probably represents little more than far right fear mongering (the graphic of Trump is a dead giveaway to that effect, at least to me).

It does nevertheless raise some interesting questions, however: how does one force something (an OS, computer, or other software) to comply with the PDA if said something is FOSS and thus doesn't answer to shareholders or the government? How is it going to be implemented? Will it be optional? What will happen if a user tries to bypass it? Will they be fined?

This has some really worrisome "1984" possibilities.
