This is one of those software projects that may be useful only to me, but I thought I'd share if there's interest.
This is an extension (INIT) that allows read-only access to HFS+ formatted volumes on System 7.5. I have tested on 7.5.5 and 7.5.3. I don't believe 7.1 or 7 will work as it lacks File System Manager; feel free to test.
My use case: i have a SCSI2SD on my Color Classic, and this allows me to move files to it from a modern mac without another machine in between...being read-only doesn't help moving files back from the CC, obviously.
Full disclosure, this is essentially vibe-coded, as the kids say. My retro-development skills are thin, and we're in lower-level file system issues that's way beyond my skillset. Avoid if that makes you nervous.
This beta version does leave logs in the System Folder, "HFSPlus Log" and "HFSPlus Session Log" which are useful for troubleshooting, but if you are removing, trash those as well.
Hopefully that's enough caveats, this is something that's useful to me and I'll keep refining, but if anyone else wants to try, here it!
