Hi there, A friend of an Apple collector living in my neighborhood asked me to repair his DynaMac.
This was originally a special Mac 512K for Canon and Apple with a Japanese Kanji ROM, but was later upgraded to the Mac Plus.

As you can see, it was a checkerboard, so the ROM defect was obvious. I replaced this with ROM-inator Resurrections.
See my blog for details!

I plan to show some short video clips at the end of my next video (due out within 72 hours) which shows just how low-profile Kay's ROM-inator kit is. Much lower profile than the one I made. Kay's version allowed me to slide the motherboard in normally without resorting to a flat-head screw driver! That forthcoming video will also show the video Kay made, where he builds a customized Mystic back panel from an LC575 back panel. It's really neat! Kay has an awesome skill set!

Nice!

I have a ROMinator kit pending to be used, but I was wary to fiddle with my Plus, as it’s working fine now (I just had to repair the analog board).

I’d have a question… Is it possible to set the ROMinator to use the standard chime and boot icon?

Txs!

Hi, I sampled a normal boot chime and created a file that I can share.
This is a RAW file, but it can be programmed with the ROM-inator Tool as it is. * Tool can recognize raw files.

About a Happy Mac Icon, There are 12 icon data files that can be downloaded from BMOW, but they do not include the genuine Happy Mac. * There are similar things, but they are a little different.
I'm asking Steve Chamberlin if he has it, so stay tuned. I will be able to reply to you at the beginning of next week.

That's great!
I was reluctant to install the ROMinator because I don't like changes in the "look & feel", but if I could use it in a less "aggressive" (this is very subjective!) way, I'd surely try it.

That is why many of us have more than one of the same Mac. You can keep one in it’s pristine stock condition, and then add some fun things to the other unit which make it more practical, usable, and fun.

But to be honest, if you install the device and decide you want to go back to the stock ROMs, all you need to do is pull off the device and put your stock rooms back in the original socket. That’s it. This is easy to do because the device is socketed, just like the original ROMs.

Sometimes it’s good to feel indebted to another person, especially if you are friends. That feeling means you respect them, you don’t take their friendship for granted, and want to give back to them in some way.

I am very thankful for all you’ve done and for all you continue to do for me, Kay. But here’s the best part. You are not only kind to me, but many other people in the vintage Mac community too. You have done some fantastic mods, and you freely share that information with the community. Thank you for that!

Thx @JDW , There are Japan's own Mac culture, and we are the only ones who know the origins of Mystic and Takaky, which are the origins of this, and we are the only ones who can understand the Dooping Mac that started this is. The reason why there are so many CCs in Japan tells that...
If the guys here have any questions about Mystic, they're all written in the Bible called Dooping Mac, so we can teach them.

I think being Japanese and being a friend of mine who lives in Japan can offer something that people in the US and other countries lack!

I hope this means JDW will be providing translation for an English version of Doping Mac.

Finding/making time is the biggest problem for me. I was unable to reply at all to Kay yesterday because I was busy from the moment I woke up until well past midnight. I had a lot of errands to run, then had to make a 3-hour trek to/from my office because I forgot my MBP there. But the worst is that Video editing eats a huge amount of time due to the slowness of my current MBP. The M1 Max would probably change my 3.5+ exports (for a 30-minute 4K 10-bit video) into mere minutes!

All said, I can achieve nearly anything when I can make the time to work on a problem. But the CC series of videos must be given priority over book translation for now. I will revisit the idea when I can finally make the time to do so!
