MAC SE FDHD Floppy Cover with activity LED

I have a MAC SE that was upgraded with an internal hard drive after it was purchased in the late 80s. It had 2 800k drives that had yellow plastic slug discs pictured here to keep them from being used I'd guess.

I installed a SCSi2SD and mounted it on a 3D printed bracket (thank you @This Does Not Compute) that I installed in the PDS sot which meant the top 800k floppy had to go which was no big deal. I'm wondering if there is a 3D printable model of the top floppy drive cover that the FDHD has, maybe even something to accommodate the LED opening but a blank cover that fits would work. I'd also be interested in buying an old original one if someone had an extra but not hopeful that's gonna happen. Welcome any thoughts or ideas.

I have been looking for the same. I would be glad to design a replacement for 3D printing, but unfortunately I don't have a real one to copy from. If I ever do get my hands on one, I will create an STL of it.

Those are "transport" protectors - common with the older (Plus, etc.) to protect the floppy head when being shipped. I believe they're reasonably rare and sought after. I'm sure I saw another thread about 3D modelling them fairly recently...

I assume it somehow protects the floppy drive while it's being transported? I have 2 of them, seems like something that should be able to be 3D printed.

they just went off on the tangent of the rare yellow transport disk. They ARE rare i'm sure almost everybody throw them out. and i'm not sure they were included past the SE ?

but the main goal of this thread seems to be that hdd cover thingie you pointed to.

I have been looking for the same. I would be glad to design a replacement for 3D printing, but unfortunately I don't have a real one to copy from. If I ever do get my hands on one, I will create an STL of it.

I bought one off ebay to measure up and make a 3D print of, thus far I have the measurements but having a bit of difficulty with figuring out the CAD part of the equation. I can either send you the measurements or the piece if you'd like to do one. Shoot me a PM and I'd be more than happy to discuss.

Yep, that is the piece I need. Maybe @PotatoFi can measure the one in his masterfully restored underwater SE someday and put them on his Etsy store.

i never made a good inventory of my collection. but i think its 100 ish or so? and i'm sure i only have like 2 or 3 of them.
so thats my evidence they are rare. . i don't often get them when i add a machine to my collection. I almost never bother with them. but i bet they really do help and are great to use when storing or shipping the computers. (to help protect heads)

If i can buy new 3d printed ones. maybe i can get in the habit of using them.

I have the top floppy cover in my SE, I'll check it out if I can remove it. Then I can give measures for 3D modelling with detailed pictures.

Finally I was opening my SE 1/20 (this is the European name for an FDHD) and took pictures from inside.
It is not possible to remove not only because it is fixed with four hot-plastic pins than it is glued into the housing. If you see the picture at the left side, close to the floppy eject hole, that is a hardglue. I did not wanted to risk to break someting.
But if you compare the size of the screws inside (inside picture) and the floppy eject hole (front picture) you can have the exact sizing. The shape possible to "guess" comparing inside/outside pictures.

I let the pictures unchanged, to be able to compare sizes, proportions. The inside picture made exactly on 90° - for the better comparison.
