Mac SE with sad Mac code 00000001 0000FFFF

Hello all,

I bought a Mac SE and it has the sad Mac code 00000001 0000FFFF. Looking it up it seems to be a ROM error. I have removed both the Hi and Low roms and used some electrical cleaner on the slots and let them dry. I then reinserted the roms but still have the same error. Anyone know where I can buy replacements roms? I have looked on eBay but have not found any.

Are you sure it's not a broken trace between the ROM socket and the rest of the board? Masked ROM's can fail, but it's rare and not the first thing I'd look at in one of my own units.

Downloaded the schematics and gone over the traces, all look correct. Might just see if I can fine another Mac SE FDHD and steal the roms from that.

Buy some programmable ROMs and a flasher?

Get a ROM reader to verify the ROMs?
