A while back in this thread we talked about how nice it would be to have an Analog Board to MLB extension cable for the 128K/512K. I finally made one today and it works great.
I made mine 14" long which gives enough room to move the board around. If I make another, I might do 16" just to have a bit more flexibility. 18AWG was a bit too big for the pins. The yellow wires in my cable are 18AWG and I had to shave down the jacket to get them to crimp properly. I'd recommend sticking with 20-22AWG.
It would have been nice to have all of the colors of the original cable, but it's not important if you key and build the cable correctly. I didn't get a blank plug for keying, but will probably fill the open position with super glue or epoxy to avoid plugging the cable in the wrong way.
I didn't add a ferrite bead, but it doesn't seem important if you're just using it for quick bench testing.
I found the parts at Excess Solutions in San Jose. It cost less than a dollar in parts to build.
2x 11 position female Molex KK 156 connectors: 15¢ each, 30¢ total
20x Molex KK pins: 3¢ each, 60¢ total
20AWG wire (I bought a spool for $5
Crimper $20 on Amazon
