Multi-console/computer set up for VGA hard-wired CRT montior?

Hey y'all,

I found a pretty great NEC CRT monitor the other day. I'd like to set it up to where I could hook up computers as well as old consoles to it.

I know there are AV switches and KVMs, but is there anything that includes a ton of different inputs and outputs? Usually between the two they either cover computer-type inputs or media device-type inputs, with no crossover. Unfortunately, this monitor only has one hard-wired VGA cable coming out of it for input.

I've searched a bit but came up short for some kind of AV switch/KVM with perhaps options for anything from VGA to composite? Even if I had to forgo the convenience of USB/PS2 inputs found on KVMs, I'd be fine if there was a AV switch out there that had like, every analog option possible available for all of its inputs. And then some analog/composite output option.

I'm sure there will be some converters or dongles involved in this kind of thing somewhere along the line, but if anyone has done such a thing before, connecting computers and consoles up to one CRT monitor before, I'd love to hear about your setups. Avoiding input lag is a goal here too of course, for the games part.

Thanks for any info!

I've been asking in different places and my brother heard of this awesome solution called the Scalable Video Switch. It's a one-guy show making this so stock can be sparse, but it's a modular AV switch hardware system mostly tailored for retro gaming solutions, but since VGA is an input and output option, it definitely looks great for my needs. Assuming their website is up-to-date, there is set to be a restock in June 2026.

Check this out!

And a very in-depth video about it:
