@Branchus love your Kaiweets KM601 Review, tough searching it on Amazon today for obvious reasons.
After five years, everything that comes up seems to be rechargeable, but I can go months between uses, so popping in a fresh set of batteries.

Recommendations for 2026?

I still use and love my Hioki DT4252, and (knock on wood) as I said in that previous thread, it's shaping up to be the last meter I'll ever need to buy.

I've seen plenty of YouTubers using EEVblog-branded Brymen meters, and they seem to be a good choice, but their prices are about the same as the Hioki. If I needed to pick up a budget meter, I'd probably go for something from Uni-T, who have been around for a while.

Thanks much, got frustrated and just ordered one that looked like it might have all the features I wanted for a starter unit. I've had a few analog meters over the years and a cute little digital from Radio Shack from about 1990 that's still great. Battery powered was a must I HATE USB charging.
Keyhole slot was the clincher.
