Hi all.

I’m wanting to put a multi-node (3) SCSI ribbon cable in my Mystic.

Is there a way to crimp a new cable, or is it better to use pins to create an extension?

Would love to hear thoughts.

Thanks!

Good question, I've only ever used the external connection with a db25 to 50p converter if I wanted a second Bluescsi or similar.
What are you hoping to add internally?

My goal is to have BlueSCSI and Asante EN/SC. The Asante is bus powered, and that way I would have IIe card, SCSI2SD and Ethernet simultaneously. Or I would just install the RaSCSI internally and emulate DaynaPort. (If it fits!)

@jcm-1 is wrapping up my analog board power/sound issues and also installed @Kay K.M.Mods Spicy O Clock, and @Mr. Fahrenheit is sending me new VRAM.

ahhh ok that was your board on stream! I sent a PM to joe after seeing it posted (didnt catch it live) or I'd have sent over an edited boot image specific for the Spicy o'clock mod.

There is a way to crimp a new cable. You just crimp a new cable. :D Need bulk cable, IDC 50 connectors and a crimping tool. I have one of three of those right now...

As long as the SCSI termination is correct and your devices don't have SCSI ID issues, it should just work. It's been 25 years since I really dug into SCSI termination, so I can never remember what and how things need to be terminated. The last device on the bus needs it, basically?

If you don't need more length, it's simple to add more connectors to an existing cable.

A vice or vise grips can be used to seat the cable.

Should be just a matter of unlatching the connector at the bottom and crimp in a new ribbon cable.

I'm thinking: make an extension. Taking apart the machine is kinda a pain in the patoot, and if the connector in the backplane connector gets messed up somehow, you have a dead chassis.

With an extension, you have to deal with shoving some extra cable up in the machine, but then you have a completely reversible process.
