@niek , creator of the Applesqueezer Apple IIgs accelerator has blogged that he has done a redesign of the hardware that will be coming out soon.
One of the interesting updates in the hardware design is an SD slot that would supports saving and loading a RAM disk.
Also: The latest v7 core update unlocks a ton of memory already on the board to use as a ramdisk, up to 240 MB in size:
