Hi Tinkers,

I finally recapped my Sony CR44 PSU and the voltages are where they should be. But prior to my rebuilding, I tried to see if the old MAC SE would boot (since it had a few years back). The disk made several clicking noises and I heard it try to rev up and down. This is what led me to believe that the PSU needed attention.

Well anyway, now recapped and put back together, the SCSI is not recognized by the system (booted via floppy) so I may have some boot sector issues. I'm looking for a Norton Utilities 3.5 disk if anyone has one for sale or other. Then, I can attempt to diagnose this wonderful old machine.

Thank you in advance for any help.

Most likely the drive is mechanically at fault: typically, the parking position bumper got sticky and the arm got kind of glued to it.
You may try to open the drive and check it, bit it’s of course a very risky move.
