There's a local guy selling an oscilloscope for a reasonable price. I'm not sure if I need/want another piece of gear, but I'm curious what exactly it could be used for.

Showing my electronics ignorance here, of course. But as a learning tool I feel like it could be not only informative, but useful and fun because of how immediate the feedback can be.

Any thoughts on the utility of an oscilloscope (analog, 100Mhz) appreciated!

They can help troubleshoot if the right signals are taking place. My brother bought one to help him make a tachometer board that would respond to the signals happening in the car to make the tachometer read the right value. He is also using it for helping him make an igniter. I can help read signals and see what signals in your code you should respond to. There is most likely more use cases but that is what I have seen so far.
