PB170 / BlueSCSI SD Extension Cable?

I have my PowerBook 170 set up with a BlueSCSI. I got the idea that I could route a micro SD card extension cable from the BlueSCSI to the back of the machine so that I could access the card from the back.

My plan was to use @Ron's Computer Videos modem plate to mount the extension cable and use the empty space from the modem jack to access the card.

I bought an extension cable, but the plug is too thick to fit in the BlueSCSI (PowerBook edition). The cable plugs in to itself fine, but the design / placement of the BlueSCSI's micro SD slot is too thin.

Has anyone done this before? Can anyone recommend an extension cable that will fit?

FWIW, I've tried a few micro SD extension options and each one of them ultimately didn't work out as the micro SD end of the extension never seemed to fit right and make even contact resulting in random IO errors. And this was on desktop Macs, would imagine it would be worse on portables.

I've had the same idea (and even ordered an extension to try it out). It seems like a lot of the extenders terminate in a quite large, plastic-enclosed end that has to be broken down to be made usable on the rear modem port. I've had it on my list to disassemble my 140 to examine the dimensions and possible fit.

My dream back modem panel (taking the place of the blanking plate):

Code:
┌──────────┐
│ │
│ ┌────┐ │ <- USB-C Port
│ └────┘ │
│ │
│ ┌──────┐ │
│ └──────┘ │ <- MicroSD Reader
│ │
└──────────┘

Obviously the firmware can be updated via the SD card nowadays, but there future features might make the USB port interesting.
