Excuse the sink full of washing up! This arrived a week ago but I've not even had a chance to unbox it!

I'd like to get a dual cpu upgrade for this, or should I install my Sonnet Encore ST/1800 that I scored off @Bolle a few months ago?

I do also have a Radeon 9600XT from a G5, and a Geforce 4 MX440 as alternative graphics options, a Quicksilver 2002 logic board and PSU just in case I want to get silly, and a SATA2IDE adapter on the way.

I definitely want a zip drive for this, too, I got a brand new bezel for it in anticipation!

Wow Ive not seen a CPU heatsink cover like that before. Also, that's an odd shaped heatsink. Can you indulge me and get a pic of the heat sink? Always amazed at how many different iterations of things Apple went through - none of my QSs are 2002 production so is probably why. A zip drive and bezel are the final piece Im looking for my QS build as well. I mean I have external zippies parallel/scsi/usb out the wazoo but it sure would be cool to have an internal zip for my QS. I vote for the aftermarket cpu vs a dual 1ghz. Mine is dual1ghz and its cool but aftermarket is so booteeky. A taped 9600xt should work fine and is absolutely the way to go vs the stinker MMX geforece4. Woof!

Gorgeous counter tops BTW. Becoming of a chief mod wrangler.

I've seen a few heatsinks like this - mostly on the DA and Quicksilver models. I can take more detailed pics later this weekend, as it is though, i've got a buggered wrist that's not making things easy!

The countertops are a lie - veneer over chipboard ;)

Well who cares. They look great and that is what matters. I am starting to remodel my kitchen tomorrow and will end with new butcher block counter tops and a farm sink. The ones in there now are original to the house and it was built in 1977! :D Marching orders from the better half - ugly mustard yellow counters must go! Anyhow, No worries on the hs pics. I'll google around and see what I can find. Its nothing more than curiosity's sake. Best of luck on that wrist.

Well, i finally managed to get hold of the dual CPU heatsink, and i've managed to, with the help of @Zane Kaminski , purchased two Dual 800MHz CPU cards for a quicksilver. These have also been further modified with a pair of G4 7455's, and overclocked to 1.2GHz running cool as a cucumber. I have the other card being fitted with dual 7457's, for even more shenanigans!

On top of that, despite @mg.man 's offer of a ZIP drive, i've sourced a few 1.3GB MO drives - in both SCSI and ATAPI formats as @Mr. Fahrenheit pointed out that they fit perfectly behind a ZIP bezel and i can't think of a cooler, and more useful thing to have, than a full MO setup!

I have even managed to source 3 of the finest 512MB DIMM's for this, so i can fully pimp it out.

The last remaining thing on the list, is SATA. I plan on ditching the onboard ATA controller, and using a SIL3112 card i purchased from eBay, and a Mac ROM, fitting it with a 120GB SSD. Should make for some extra funtimes :D

Sounds pretty awesome. Did you refit the 7450swith the 7455's? How painful if at all was that? MO? very cool - Ive never seen a MagnetoOptical drive in the wild before. Are they plug n play in a PMG4 or do you need a driver?

Pictures of it wasn't built! :D

I didn't replace the chips myself but @dosdude1 and @HrutkayMods have done similar before - just remove the old chips, install the new ones (in this case, iirc the cache chips might have also been replaced), then set the jumper resistors correctly.

MO drives are usually plug and play, i have a Panasonic LF3000 128MB MO SCSI external, that shows up in MacOS 8.1 with no issues, no separate drivers needed.

Will dig out pics later, as i'm at work 😅

Same - well, enjoying a lunch break but back at it in 20 minutes or so. Gotta make that bacon!
